Qualifying for assistance at Take The Lead
In recent months, we have received several requests for financial assistance from people who have suffered setbacks outside our selection criteria. These requests are generally in response to events such as a job loss and other financial strains brought on by the current financial crisis. And while we can certainly sympathize with these situations, it's important that we be clear about our charter here at Take The Lead. The basis of our donations, indeed the reason our contributors have been so generous, is to assist people in the sport of dogs who suffer from a terminal or life threatening illness. We hope that anyone considering a request for aid from Take The Lead will keep this in mind and help us maintain the focus we've become well known for. Thank you.

Take The Lead surpasses $2,000,000 in direct support...
Take the Lead has reached a miles9tone worth noting. During April, 2008 Take the Lead reached a point where the foundation has provided more than $2,000,000.00 in direct support of those in the Dog Fancy in need of assistance due to the realities of dealing with many different kinds of life-threatening or terminal illnesses such as cancer and heart disease. This level of support has been made possible by the generous contributions of individuals, dog clubs and companies around the United States since the Foundation’s organization in 1993.

In 2007, more than $308,000.00 was distributed to individuals living all over the United States. The need for Take The Lead’s services continues to increase, especially as our nation’s economic status has become more difficult. In the current year, Take The Lead has seen an increase of nearly 40% in the funds distributed to our friends in the dog show world and there is no reason to think that the need will diminish in the near future. We thank everyone for their contributions and look forward to your continued support.
